Brisbane’s $5 billion bus and Train (BaT) tunnel project is one of Brisbane’s largest infrastructure projects. The 5km tunnel will adopt the world's first design, combining railways and buses in a single, double-deck, 15-meter wide tunnel under the Brisbane River and CBD. The project will lay the foundation for the establishment of an advanced, international standard "upcoming" transit system in Southeast Queensland. The BaT tunnel will revolutionize public transportation and create new jobs in Brisbane.

The geotechnical drilling survey started in the Brisbane River in January, and the final reference design and environmental impact report are expected to be published in 2016. The project will be completed in 2020 and put into operation in 2021.
